Students and Express Entry
In the past, it was relatively easy for students to study in Canada, gain work experience, and perhaps remain in the country as permanent residents. However, when the points-based Express Entry program was introduced in 2015, students weren’t given much credit for their Canadian education. That is now changing. Students will now be given 15 points for a one or two-year postsecondary diploma, and 30 points for a program of three years or more, a Master’s program, or a Ph.D. program. Note that post-graduation work permits are only open to publicly funded postsecondary educational institutes and not private career colleges.
